Prix Jean-Vigo du court métrage en 1994, "75 centilitres de prières" fut un succès emblématique du jeune cinéma français des années 90 en même temps qu’il inaugurait pour Jacques Maillot une manière de filmer, dans la spontanéité du tournage, des jeunes gens de leur époque, avec leurs doutes, leurs emballements, leurs atermoiements. C’était aussi la constitution d’une troupe dont on retrouvera certains visages (Olivier Py, Alain Beigel, Éric Bonicatto) au gré des films suivants du cinéaste, du moyen métrage Corps inflammables à son premier long, "Nos vies heureuses".

4 young people are long time friends. They have a dinner together, which will turn into a mess when they play a game which consists in writing a vow on a little piece of paper to be put into a bottle: they love each other, but they are not able to transcend their loneliness and their selfishness.
