Lors des funérailles de son mari, la riche veuve Margaret DeLorca se retrouve face à sa sœur jumelle Edith. Cela faisait dix-huit ans que les deux femmes ne s’étaient pas vues et les retrouvailles sont glaciales. Margaret invite Edith à déjeuner dans sa somptueuse demeure, mais les vieilles rancunes ont la vie dure.
