Clément Cogitore

Clément Cogitore

  • French director and artist, born in 1983 in Colmar (France).

After studying at the École des arts décoratifs de Strasbourg then at the Fresnoy, Clément Cogitore decided not to choose between contemporary art and film. In his work, he combines films, videos, installations, and photographs, to find the most eloquent ways of questioning rituals, collective memory, and the cohabitation of people and images. In 2015, his first feature film The Wakhan Front won numerous awards. In 2018, his video installation The Evil Eye won the Marcel Duchamp Prize. Twice nominated at the César Awards in 2019 for two short films, Braguino and Les Indes galantes, these two films were later extended beyond cinema: Braguino became an exhibition at the BAL in Paris, and he directed Les Indes galantes an opera-ballet by Rameau, for the Opéra National de Paris in the autumn of 2019.
