Pierre Salvadori
French director, born in Tunisia in 1964.
As a young Parisian fresh out of high school, Pierre Salvadori took classes in theatre while studying cinema at university. After a short spell in cafe-theatre, he wrote his first script, Wild Target, which he directed several years later. The film was a success and was nominated for the César Award for Best First Feature Film. Influenced by Ernst Lubitsch, the director pursued his exploration of sophisticated drama with The Apprentices in 1995, which offered Guillaume Depardieu one of his finest roles, and White Lies in 1997. After a detour into film noir, with The Sandmen, he returned to drama and directed After You... (2002) then Priceless (2006). His latest film, In the Courtyard, a depressive drama with Catherine Deneuve and Gustav Kervern, dates from 2014. We will see him again soon as an actor in Rebecca Zlotowski’s forthcoming film, Planetarium.
