Collection New WaveThis is the first film of the "Hungarian new wave". A company of young people spend their summer holidays by the Tisza. They are absorbed in sun-bathing and swimming, and more and more of them dive into the depth of the river to collect some mud. None of the young people notices that one of them is no longer with them, that Gabi drowned in the river. The tragedy which happened to their friend forces them to examine their own conscious asking themselves who is responsible, how they relate to the world and each other. They grow into adulthood burdened by the tragedy, their relationships are transformed. Luja and Zoli are willing to face their conscience. Laci finds consolation in abstract principles, while others try to idealise their role.
