Catherine Corsini
French director, born in Dreux in 1956.
At the age of 18, Catherine Corsini moved to Paris to become an actress. She enrolled in Film Studies at university before taking classes at the Conservatoire d’art dramatique. It was there that she turned to directing and writing. She met students from the IDHEC in 1982 and shot a short film with them. She directed her first feature film, Poker, in 1987. Later followed Les Amoureux, presented at Cannes in 1994. Karin Viard played the lead in The New Eve in 1999, a major success with audiences and critics alike. Her work deals with passionate love and questions the role of women in society, and the relationships between class and domination. Summertime was released in 2015, an uplifting love story between Cécile De France and Izïa Higelin. An Impossible Love (2018), is an adaptation of the eponymous novel by Christine Angot and stars Virginie Efira.
