La Cinémathèque française
In 1936, Henri Langlois, a cinephile and visionary, created the Cinémathèque française in order to save films, costumes, sets, posters and other cinema treasures from destruction. He was the first to consider cinema as an art to be preserved, restored and shown. Eight decades later, in a resolutely modern building entirely dedicated to the 7th art, the Cinémathèque française unveils the cinema in a unique way thanks to its numerous activities and one of the most important film collections in the world. A true crossroads of cinephilia, it constantly revisits cinema through all eras, all horizons and all genres. It allows spectators to make wonderful cinematographic discoveries and the younger generation to experience the history of cinema on a daily basis.
