In a French boys&#x27; school, three friends form a secret society. Their objective - going to America. At night, after one of their secret meetings, one of them sees a man coming out from a wall. The day after he talks about it, he disappears. Then the second boy vanishes. Then the art teacher is murdered. Suspicions now are high, so the third one decides to investigate.

Paul Braconnier is going through living hell with his wife, an alcoholic shrew. They are both trying to do away with each other. Paul goes to see a famous lawyer, who unwittingly tells him how to commit the crime. So Paul goes on, kills his wife and gives himself up to the police. The lawyer takes his case and Paul is acquitted. He triumphantly returns to the village.
