François Ozon

• French director, born in Paris in 1967.

  François Ozon began his studies in directing at La Fémis in 1990. In his first feature film, Sitcom (1998) all the key themes of his filmmaking are already present: a clear hatred for the bourgeoisie, troubled characters, the breakdown of the family and manipulative interpersonal games. Ozon explores different genres in the drama Water Drops on Burning Rocks (2000) adapted from Fassbinder’s work, the musical 8 Women (2001) starring Catherine Deneuve, Fanny Ardant, and Isabelle Huppert, and the thriller Swimming Pool (2003), nominated for the Golden Palm at Cannes. In 2010, he made Trophy Wife with Catherine Deneuve and Gérard Depardieu then In the House (2012) with Fabrice Luchini. In 2013, Young and Beautiful was chosen for competition at Cannes and in 2016 he made Frantz, a black-and-white Franco-Germanic drama. Next came Double Lover (2017) and By the Grace of God (2018). Tout s'est bien passé is selected in Official Competition at the Cannes Film Festival.
