Patricia Mazuy
Born in 1960 in Dijon.
Mazuy left her studies in commerce at the HEC Paris to work as a babysitter in Los Angeles. There, she directed a short film, and met Agnès Varda and Sabine Mamou. She became an editor thanks to Sabine (for Thomas Harlan and Varda). Her first feature film Thick Skinned (1989) was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1989 Cannes Film Festival. She later shot a number of episodes for American series (Hitchhiker and Scene of the Crime), followed by an agricultural documentary Des Taureaux et des Vaches, before directing Travolta et Moi, in the Arte collection “Tous les garçons et les filles...”, which won awards at various festivals (including Locarno, Belfort, and San Francisco). She then directed The King's Daughters (Prix Jean Vigo 2000, Prix de la Jeunesse at Cannes), followed by Basse Normandie, co-directed with Simon Reggiani, branching into autofiction. Her most recent film, Sports de Filles, featuring Marina Hands, Bruno Ganz and Josiane Balasko, was released in 2012. She will appear in Emilie Deleuze’s next film, Jamais Contente.
